California Day 1: Cheeseburger in Paradise

We arrived safely this morning is Los Angles. First stop, In-N-Out Burger!
Rule is: If you buy a milkshake you have to wear a hat!

Beautiful palm trees greeted us along the Pacific Coast.

We started off meeting our educators and boat master, followed by some Team Building activities on Santa Barbara beach.

Once we were settled we set up our journals, set personal goals, and prepared for the education that awaited us!

We had some time to explore the coast and the wonders the ocean washed up.

One thing was a decaying carcass of a sea lion. Kinda sad, but also kinda cool.

We found lots of little treasures along the shore.

And made some new friends along the way...

Gimpy the Gull... Our new friend and inspiration for our team name.

To help us learn about the importance of communication, trust, and listening we did a blindfolded obstacle course with our partners voices as our only guide through the maze.

High fives all around for a job well done!

More reflection and preparation for our visit to the Sea Center.

We explored many animals that come from the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Santa Barbara. Here, Sam gets to pet a real shark!

Reilly learns about crabs and other interesting sea creatures from the Sea Center interpreters.

Isaiah and one of the interpreters test a water capsule for collecting salt water samples and doing various tests.

In honor of Gimpy the Gill.

Sam poses in front of a hotel called "Sambos". He's so cool!

Our home away from home! Vision is the live aboard boat we will be staying on for the next two nights!

Harmony kids jumping for joy in California!

At Nature Bridge you learn more than just Science and how to grow as an individual. You can also study jedi arts. Here Isaiah uses the death grip on Mr. Ohrt.

The winners of the team scavenger hunt: Dlungs! (not pictured, our fearless leader Mrs. Sautler)

Last team building activity of the day: Alaskan Football.
Two teams. One stuffed animals. Lots of running, falling, and laughs!

Champions of Alaskan Football: Team Lady Tigers! (and Mr. Gerardo our super sport Dad!)
