Keystone Science Trip 2016: Day 4

Moose-sightings, Sledding, Snow Art, and a Superb Sunset

Jonathan gets to know new friends from HSE during breakfast.

Ivy, Jarrid, and Nayeli ponder life between activites.

Teams created and presented inventions made from random items they packed. True creativity and advertising skills were exercised. Here, Aislinn, Amaris, James, and Roxann work together to formulate ideas.

Angelica, Ivy, Jared, Vincent, Angel, and Nayeli determine how to best incorporate items into a progressive invention.

Fresh snow makes the perfect ingredient for Valentine's Day Snow Art!
A time to work in teams or individually and create an expression with media most have never seen before: SNOW!

Mrs. Hamilton treks in knee-deep powder to sculpt a huge heart in the foreground of the Rocky Mountains.

Students hard at work creating snow art on the KSS campus.

Amaris, Ivy, Alyssa, Jarrid, Celso, and Marina joined efforts to construct a unique dwelling design.

Aislinn, Jonathan, Katie, Alia, and Julianna scout out the perfect plan.

Erick, Francisco, and others were dedicated to developing an awesome igloo. It turned out to be extremely impressive! Good work guys!

Jennifer and Aislinn chiseled small snow art sculptures.

Beautiful!

More shots....!

Katie tests different consistencies of fresh powder and hard-packed snow.

Ms. Scott attempts to make a snow angel.

A momma moose and her 2 babies just beyond these trees. We kept a safe distance because mommas are known to become very protective of her youth and will take measures to prove that.

The colors of nature are gorgeous.

Celso and Jarrid find that the other side of fear is freedom! This fierce duo conquered the sledding mountain...however Jarrid's sunglasses may not be functional anymore.

Lizeth prepares for her first sled run.

Roxann basks in the fresh powder in the Arapahoe National Forest. This is truly a spectacular location to study hands-on science.

Angel, Angelica, Vincent, and Jonathan make the most of this magical setting.

Alyssa takes a break under a lodge pole pine tree.

Marina learns first hand the properties of gravity and friction as she sleds near a nature preserve.

WHAT A SUNSET! A perfect, pristine exit on our last evening.
