Keystone Science Trip 2016: Day 3

The Continental Divide, Landforms, and Plate Tectonics

Rachel describes the topography of the region and discuss geography, geology, and Earth Sciences with the boys.

The Amazing Race: Harmony Science Edition. Who can safely reach the top of the Continental Divide at 11.990 feet high?!?!?!?!?

Angel on top of the world!

Jonathan and James enjoy the views and make new buds.

Arapahoe Basin in the distance. The water either runs to the East to the Atlantic Ocean or the West to the Pacific Ocean. Here decides it's destiny!

Nayeli feels like a bird with the wind beneath her wings.

Yet....she hasn't grown wings yet so she must find her way safely down.

Katie and Angelica wish they could stay forever, however it is feeling colder than the picture projects, and more learning in the field awaits!

Marina strikes a pose on the Continental Divide!

Our vans safely transport us around the area to our various field excursions.

Rocky Mountain High....COLORADO! (Queue John Denver!)

Jonathan, Erick, and Vincent prep for the backcountry. The weather couldn't have been more perfect for the Texans to visit Colorado!

Celso breathes the brisk mountain air, something he has never experienced in Central Texas.

James and Erick take a breather during lunch. The high altitude is certainly harder to breathe in!

A gorgeous mountain peak on our trail.

As we wrapped up our field day, snowy storm clouds rolled in! We are hoping for fresh powder for our last full field day tomorrow!
